Gold San Francisco Wedding
You aren’t going to want to miss any bit of today’s wedding sent over to us by Ellie Grover. Full of beautiful floral arrangements from East Bay Flower Company, event design by Whitney Werts Events, and a can’t-miss wedding film from Rain Studios, this is one colorful San Francisco wedding day we’ll remember for quite a while!
From the bride, Katy: I love all color so I narrowed the color scheme down by using my groom as inspiration. He is a big Giants fan so I worked in a lot of shades of orange and his favorite color, green. Gray was a big neutral element too. I love all things that glitter and sparkle so we used a lot of reflective elements too like the DIY letters covered in large sequins, mercury ball vases and 13 disco balls, one for each year we have been together.
As a kid I always loved the Alhambra trucks with the blue sequins that sparkled so bright, and on a trip out of SFO I was mesmerized by the BART sequin installation. So I asked my father-in-law who is an engineer to build me wooden letters and a paw print to represent me, Jon, and Hailey (our puppy since the beginning of our relationship 13 years ago). My father-in-law made incredible wood letters and I spent months covering them in sequins with a nail gun one by one. It was fun and will be a permanent fixture in my garage 🙂
I can’t thank my father enough — he is the most amazing man on the planet and gave an epic father of the bride speech. Not to mention he has been my rock for 33 years and was the epitome of grace and class during this whole planning process!
Any advice for brides planning their weddings now? Remember it is about being with all your loved ones, cherish the times leading up to the wedding and at the wedding with your family and friends, it is the best part of the experience. Get a coordinator so you can enjoy your family and friends that have traveled so far to see you, it is about your love ones in the end, so there is not time to waste being stressed when they are there. Get a hair/make up person if you are not a glamorist and don’t skimp on your photographer or your videographer!!! Get both and let everything else go. Details are great but photographers and videographers make miracles happen with what you give them. They have an eye to tell the story that you will cherish forever. Some of these best shots of the day don’t include things we spent hours worrying over, shots in front of random walls and close ups make the album and video. Also some of the simplest details made such a huge difference. Market lights strung down the aisle floor made for a really nice candlelit effect when the fire marshal said we couldn’t use candles in the ceremony.

Where is the super sparkly bridesmaid dress from? So pretty!
Nordstrom, Pisarro Nights. She changed her mind on the day of the wedding and bought it across the street. 🙂
