Throw a Chic Constellation Themed Party with All Star DIYs
This star inspired party is perfect for NYE fetes, star-themed birthdays, holiday parties and constellation inspired gatherings. We’ve teamed up with our friends at Fiskars and put their star paper punches to good use and we will share FIVE do-it-yourself projects that you can whip up in a pinch. Or punch (ha!) All you will need is gold metallic paper, which we also have a hack for you.
Constellations have been all the rage recently and we’re loving this trend. Perfect for the holidays (whether that’s Christmas, NYE or even 4th of July), this star-themed party is versatile and fun. We’re going to start by sharing how we made this airy star garland and a trick to getting gold metallic paper on the cheap.

- gold metallic cardstock
- Fishing line
- Needle
Have you noticed how tough it is to find double sided gold metallic paper that isn’t outrageous or even gold metallic paper thicker than gift wrap? We’re going to share a little secret on how to get gold paper in a pinch: white cardstock and spray paint. This is our go-to gold spray paint and it’s perfect for projects like these.
Lay out your sheets of cardstock and spray one side at a time. Let it dry completely before spraying the other side so the sheets don’t get stuck.
Punch away your gold paper with different size star punches. These punches lockdown when not in use for space-saving storage and it cuts multiple layers of light craft paper to speed things up.
With the help of a needle, thread your shapes with the fishing line twice on each star – needle goes in and out from the same side of the paper so the star is aligned with the fishing line. Thread different size star shapes at random and away you go!
