Bold Pink and Red Sydney Wedding Rooted in Tradition
This pink and red Sydney wedding is redefining this bold color palete in so many ways. Isobel & Matt were married in Kincoppal-Rose Bay where the bride, along with her sisters and bridesmaids, went to school! Then the reception? Two words: champagne tower. Don’t even get us started on the lush suspended floral installation by Kashaya & Co and the beautiful pink color palette that confirmed our love for colorblock palettes, all captured by Lara Hotz Photography!
Did you any use any family traditions or heirlooms?
From the bride: I wore my Mum’s diamond and sapphire bracelet, a gift from my Dad to her, as my something old AND blue. My something new was the diamond earrings in the shape of a flower, that matched my dress detailing.
Describe how you met your partner and the marriage proposal
We met through a previous work place, but had absolutely no interest in each other while working together. I was in my first full time job and it never really crossed my mind. We ran into each other about six months are he left when we were out with colleagues and friends. He dragged me outside and told me he’d been wanting to kiss me for a long time. I was shocked but drunkenly obliged and the rest is history.
A little over a year later, Matt told me he had a surprise dinner planned (I hate surprises) and asked me to meet him prior at a park overlooking the water near where he was living in Elizabeth Bay. He told me he was ‘reading’ there all afternoon, but I noticed a picnic rug and a bag and started relentlessly questioning what was going on. He suddenly forced me to stand up and asked him to marry me. He had a ring custom designed with the help of my sister, and it was incredible. He followed the proposal with dinner overlooking Sydney Harbour at Aria Restaurant.
Describe the planning of your wedding
We had given ourselves 6-7 months from the proposal to the wedding, so it was all systems go really from the weekend Matt proposed. I was very particular about what I wanted and had a clear vision in mind. I knew I wanted it to feel like a really special occasion for us, our family and friends and an experience they wouldn’t forget.

Describe the styling of your wedding
I was certain that I wanted to have shades of pinks in the color palette from the florals, to the decor and the bridesmaids. This really helped guide everything else around it. My friend is a talented illustrator and designer so she created all the invitations, so we used her crest, fonts and style as the basis for table settings and details. We mainly used whites, with a pale pink charger plate and metallic cutlery.
We had lots of fairy lights around the various areas (garden for drinks, marquee and in the ballroom for the dancefloor). It was a beautiful Summer’s day, so we were able to take the sides off the marquee. Having the marquee surrounded by lush green garden, we then had rigged hanging florals from the roof which gave the marquee a really nice garden feel.
How did you go about choosing your flowers?
I love flowers but am no expert, and our planner Kashaya is a florist so she absolutely nailed the flowers. We incorporated roses, peonies and also had one large orchid for my bouquet. I wanted leafy backdrops to contrast the pinks, which looked amazing in the gardens. I hate when flowers interrupt the table and food, so we opted for hanging flowers in the marquee and big centerpieces in the Church, gardens and ballroom.

What unique details/ideas did you have?
We had three stages throughout the night, so we had three stages of music. For the garden canapes and arrival drinks, we had a string quarter. For the marquee, we had a live musician playing guitar and singing classics. For the move to the ballroom, we had a DJ playing all our favorite songs on the DF until the end of the night.
