Pop Up Weddings x Mod Couples
From the planner and owner of The Pop-Up Chapel Co., Love by Lynzie: Held at the versatile, Drake Underground venue space, this bright and bold Chapel was our 8th Chapel till date and was entirely inspired by the paintings of Hense The Name and incorporated Pantone’s colour of the year – Living Coral. When we thought of Ruffled we thought this was the perfect submission – colourful, funky, fun, cheerful, uniquely diversified couples, micro and best of all a wedding solution that is inclusive and affordable to anyone and everyone that wants to wed with the simplest planning process (a solution to a pandemic that has postponed so many weddings).
At The Pop-Up Chapel Co., we marry 10 couples in one day, one couple on the hour every hour for 10 hours straight. Our couples pay a flat rate that includes everything they need- ceremony venue and decor, legal officiant, florals, live music, a toast for up to 20 guests and more. When it came to design for this unique Chapel, our goal was to highlight the Living Coral colour palette with beautiful shades of soft pink, cherry red and mustard yellow. Our bold chapel backdrop, custom made by The Pop-Up Chapel Co. team included three bursts of bright blooms designed by creative florist, Roadside Florist. These colours carried their way throughout the chapel in all of our signage, balloon install and even our snacks! To tie the whole ceremony space together the team hand cut pieces of vinyl to line the vintage style terrazzo print floor. Couples made their way down the aisle to the musical stylings of the Toronto Jazz Collective and were #officiallyhitched by one of our fantastic officiants, Jonny & Juliana Belinko.
It’s easy to see why pop up weddings have been on the up + up for years! #coolerthancityhall
For a classic fun experience at our Chapel weddings, we had the Glenfiddich gifting station where each couple got to take home a bottle of 18-year-old Glenfiddich Whisky and custom-printed drams. Plus, each guest toasted the happy couple with a delicious (and totally on-brand) pink cocktail featuring 12-year-old Glenfiddich Whisky. We even had coral caramel popcorn and coral macaroons from The Drake. Each couple also had the chance to cut their very own cake, custom and adorned with fresh florals by Love in Bloom. So fun!
These pop up weddings took advantage of the surrounding neighborhood for portraits based on each couple’s personal style too!
Committed to Community development, The Pop-Up Chapel Co. donates $300 from the sale of every chapel spot sold to local charities. To date, we’ve married over 100 couples and raised over $36k for charities across North America. After successfully marrying 9 beautiful couples, we are proud to have raised $2,700 for Save the Children and #BloomsUnited! In an effort to make the Pop-Up Chapel a sustainable event, we worked with the folks at New Dawn Org to repurpose and reuse all of our chapel florals. These made their way from The Drake to Emily’s House, Toronto’s only hospice for children and families facing life-threatening illnesses.
Today, we are rapidly expanding to new cities including Ottawa, Winnipeg and Vancouver – soon NYC and Hamilton. Not only is the chapel affordable (usually starting at $2699), but we are sustainable (10 couples shared the waste that is less than one couple would traditionally create at a wedding) and inclusive, marrying couples across all genders, religions, races, sexual identities and more.
Each chapel spot costs 1 couple approximately $2,699 depending on location and date of the Chapel and up depending on the add ons the client chooses but that the average cost a chapel couple is spending with us is $3,000. Couples would then have to purchase their own attire, makeup and accessories for the day and some choose to go out after for a dinner reception with their guests. If you are in love, this is the spot for you. We hope you love it as much as we do!
We’ve mentioned before how much of a game changer unique wedding venues can be, and this underground concert venue is the living proof! If these colorful pop up weddings with a worthy cause to boot have inspired you, be sure to keep an eye out for their dates near you!
