From the photographer, Diane Sotero PhotographyStaci, from Sweet Grace Floral, and I have followed each other’s work for a while and when one of my destination weddings brought me to Utah, we couldn’t miss the opportunity to work together. When she suggested the ruins of an old museum to be the venue for our editorial, I confess I wasn’t sure about the idea. Once we met and she showed me the inspiration for the place our minds clicked and created a storm of creativity. Being based in Europe myself, it felt as if I was bringing a little piece of home to the mountains of Salt Lake City. The beauty of the building’s architecture and the delicacy of the details bring together inspiring wedding ideas for the romantic bride.

From the florist, Sweet Grace Floral: History tells a story…a LOVE story. Nestled up against the majestic mountains in Salt Lake City, lie the ruins of what once was a grand museum. Its intricate Spanish architecture still stands firm showcasing gorgeous archways, statuesque plaster work and stunning rooflines. With years and years of vacancy, time has peeled back layers upon layers of the exterior exposing a history, a story and perfectly, imperfect flaws. What an ideal venue to not only display the beginnings of a couples journey together, but to also celebrate the flaws we each have. The museum “spoke” to us as artists and we knew we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to create here, everything fell into place and the beginnings of a picturesque story began.

I’m pretty sure our hearts beat only for the Old European look so we were almost knocked off our feet when we saw that this al fresco wedding could be found in Salt Lake City. Pleasantly surprised would be the understatement of the year. Plus we love the gorgeous natural lighting you get at an al fresco wedding like this beaut in Athens!
