Multicultural Destination Wedding In A Tuscan Castle
A summer proposal in a Tuscan castle ended up being the perfect foreshadowing for Freena and Harrison’s multicultural destination wedding at famed medieval venue overlooking the Tuscan wine region, Il Borro. These well-traveled lovebirds hosted a fete that extended beyond a single day, which in truth, is completely fitting for a destination as rich with culture as Italy! Distinctive Italy Weddings played matchmaker with the finest team of destination wedding vendors to bring both their Indian ceremony and British wedding day to life in the most sophisticated way. Fiore all’Occhiello turned up the volume on pampas grass in a circular ceremony backdrop budding with roses and romance, and her skillful tangle of pastel blooms made for the most graceful runner down the family style table at the reception. Rossini Photography was in their element capturing every luxurious detail, and we’re not gonna lie, these emotional shots have us tearing up quite a bit today! So. much. happy. From the Bride, Freena: “Harrison proposed on a hot July day on the top of a castle overlooking the vineyards of Tuscany. Later that evening, before the shock and joy of the day had become a reality, we were already convinced we would be back the next year to get married. It didn’t take us long to convince our parents it was a good idea; after all, the food, the wine, the weather, the location – it would all be perfect in the rolling hills of Tuscany. From the moment wedding planning began, we knew we wanted to create a full weekend to celebrate both my Indian heritage and Harrison’s British one. The most important thing to the both of us was that the guests would have an unforgettable experience – we already knew we would!
We were very lucky to discover Distinctive Italy Weddings before we even looked at venues. With their guidance, we fell in love with Il Borro, a beautiful venue with a medieval Italian village overlooked by a statuesque villa and surrounded by the lush greenness of Tuscany. The next 10 months absolutely flew by. Stefania, our personal miracle worker of a wedding planner, had us breezing through the big decisions: photographers, videographers, hair and makeup stylist, florist, band and even catering. We couldn’t be happier with every single vendor we chose, and they all came together to create the most elaborate weekend. The whole weekend struck a seamless balance, managing to be as sophisticated and glamorous as we imagined while still being downright fun and laid back.
Our florist, Fiore all’Occhiello, concocted scenes of fairy tale perfection using flowers and props that were well beyond anything we had dreamed. My hair and makeup stylist, Patrizia, was my main source of comfort and calm during any hectic and nerve wracking moments. Our caterers, Galateo, outdid themselves at every meal. Our band, Gatsby Band, had every single guest up and dancing all night long with their party playlist. Finally, our photographers, Rossini Photography, and videographer, Sergio Minnici, were there every step of the way. They were unobtrusive but managed to capture every glance, every unexpected laugh, every tear. They brought out our best sides and made us comfortable from our first couple’s shoot. We never felt like we were posing, we were just having a chat or a cuddle, and Rossini turned all those intimate moments into a work of art. We are so delighted we will always have these memories of the incredible weekend that marked the start of our lives together”
It’s no surprise that witnessing a wedding in a Tuscan castle has us our hearts aching to book the next flight to Italy. ‘Til then, we’ll just be perusing more historic European venues and playing Letters to Juliet in the background. Cin cin!
